Book Week

We had a fabulous book week and it is a shame it has come to an end. We had a visit from the poet Brian Moses who entertained us with his musical instruments as he told his poems. On Friday we watched a production of Duck in the Truck by Blunderbus Theatre company. The truck was awesome as were the puppets. We also came in dressed as book characters and our year 2 teachers were the characters for Little Red Riding Hood.

The Great Fire comes alive at our school

Today we had a real treat as Oliver Naylor acted out a play about The Great Fire. He became Samuel Pepys, King Charles and even Thomas Farynor’s wife. What a lovely end to our History topic!!

DT week

This week we have become designers. We had to design fire engines thinking about the ones  we had seen at Ashford Fire Station. It’s amazing what you can do with a shoe box, lolly sticks and straws. Do come down to the year 2 corridor and have a look at our finished designs.

Ashford Fire Station

Today we went to the fire station in Ashford. Fire fighter Gary on white watch showed us his fire engine which was called 11Romeo1. We learnt that the fire engine is actually a really large toolbox. The best part was when we got to use the fire hoses to squirt water. Wow it was powerful!!

Weaving in Science

Science was so much fun today as we learnt about different fabrics. Some of them were natural materials and some were man-made. We then looked at woven jute and could see the strands of fibres criss-crossed over each other. The best part of the lesson was making our own weave just like the woven jute using cardboard and plastic carrier bags.
